Vecna is the Lord of the Undead. He is a rival to The Raven Queen, and covets her dominion over the dead. The Hand and Eye of Vecna played an integral role during the events of The Hand and the Eye, in which the demilich Acererak tried to use them to raise an undead army to take over Istria. He commands his followers to:
- Never reveal all you know.
- Find the seed of darkness in your heart and nourish it; find it in others and exploit it to your advantage.
- Oppose the followers of all other deities so that Vecna alone can rule the world.
